Our Story

Sixty acres, and a feeling you can't find anywhere else

Lake Ploenta Weddings are held at The Landing at Lake Ploenta, 60 acres of forest and lakeside in the foothills outside Arlington.

We kept looking for a Pacific Northwest venue that brought together three things: a real garden experience, the romance of a French country estate, and a guest list small enough that everyone actually gets to talk to each other. We found venues built for 300 in a barn, and venues with a pretty view and nothing more. So we set out to build the one we couldn't find.

The Feeling

People who stroll around the lake for the first time tend to slow down and go quiet. There's a mood here that's hard to name and easy to love.

We've shaped the details to match: antique whites and soft stone, wrought iron and weathered wood, climbing vines over arches, and warm light as the evening comes in over the water.

And your people can stay right here: the lakehouse, the cabin, the yurts, the glamping tents. Book them all and the property becomes your private retreat. Everyone is together, yet everyone has their own space.

Every season, year by year, the gardens grow a little more extraordinary.

The Vision

Seven gardens, one season at a time

World-class gardens are built one bed at a time, over years. Here's what's blooming now, what's going in the ground this fall, and what comes next: seven distinct gardens joined by 2.4 km of planted loop trail.

Ploenette Flower Garden

A flower garden just across the bridge. The first garden on the property, and the one that set the tone for everything after.

The White Garden

All-white blooms, soft and luminous at dusk. A quiet backdrop for portraits, with double white hearts at the entry to the venue from the parking lot.

Going in the ground now

Pathway Arches

Eight arches along the paths, planted this fall with white sweet peas alternating with star jasmine, to be climbing and fragrant by summer 2027.

Wine Barrel Garden

Flowers cascading from repurposed wine barrels, mixed with ground-level beds. Built for cocktail hour.

Japanese Garden

Moss, stone, raked gravel, and maples around the waterfall in the forest.

A 400-meter planted trail around the lake, the stroll you and your guests take between ceremony and dinner.

A 2-kilometer garden trail through the back of the property. A destination walk in its own right.

Your Host

Meet Ploenta

The eye behind the details, and the host who looks after our lodging guests.

Ploenta, or Mimi, is a designer with an eye for detail and a gift for making things beautiful. She is Thai, and has lived in the United States as a US citizen for most of her adult life. She loves the outdoors, flowers, and fragrance, and it shows in the touches she adds.

Lake Ploenta was built over many years by many hands. Ploenta brings her designer's eye to what's here: the decorating, the French country details, and the finishing touches that make each space feel cared for.

She also manages our guest lodging, drawing on her training in hotel management in Phuket, Thailand. Cleanliness, fresh bedding, and how every guest feels from the moment they arrive get her particular attention.

The team

Mimi doesn't do it alone. Heather, Holly, and Ryan round out the team, helping with design, landscaping, IT, and payments.

Our neighbors

We're lucky in our neighbors. Next door is Woodside Haven, another wedding venue, where Kody and Gwen help us out with tables and chairs. The Friendship Trail connects our two properties.

The wilder neighbors

You won't be the only ones on the property. Deer wander the forest edges at dawn, rabbits turn up in the gardens, ducks and geese keep the lake busy all season, and our resident stray cats are never far away. Guests staying over usually meet all of them.
